2023 Graduate Recital

This recital was for the completion of a Master of Music, Sacred Music, Organ degree at East Carolina University. It was performed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, North Carolina on the Fisk Op. 126. It is the culminative result of two years of organ study at East Carolina. It features a wide variety of works from the great JS Bach, German-Romantic composer Johannes Brahms, French-Romantic composer Louis Vierne, Jean Langlais, and more.

The tonal design of the Opus 126 is strongly influenced by the French Romantic School. Pipe design and materials, as well as voicing techniques, follow closely in the tradition of Aristide Cavaille-Coll’s late work. The stop list is the result of careful research and thoughtful discussion of the musical requirements of the Episcopal liturgy, including both leadership and accompaniment. The splendid acoustics of St. Paul’s, designed by Dana Kirkegaard of Kirkegaard Acoustics, Inc., created an aural environment in which to create an organ with the breadth and flexibility needed to serve as a university teaching organ and recital instrument.
